house update

All the conditions of sale were removed on Friday, and our house is officially sold! It closes by the end of the month too, so we don't have to carry both mortgages for very long, and the movers are booked to come on the 31st! We can't wait.

Ollie and Sam are pretty excited too. They don't seem to be bothered by change at all. Ollie's only concern was whether all his toys would stay here or whether he could bring them with him. Having cleared that up, he doesn't seem to give a hoot where we live. He and Sam have pretty much determined of their own accord (weirdly similar to Clara and Pippa) that they want to share a room in the new place. More room for the rest of us! I'm willing to give it a go, but am worried they will just stay up all night chatting or will wake each other up at ungodly hours of the morning (and be less likely to go back to sleep than they would on their own). I guess we will find out.

birthdays, open houses

OK, I know I don't post enough, but this time I have an excuse. We've spent the last four weekends either getting the house staged and ready to go, or leaning it and getting everything out of sight in preparation for open houses and viewings. We are so tired of cleaning! And not a single offer yet! We are not discouraged though as the market seemed to pick up considerably this weekend and people came out in droves despite so-so weather. We move on the 31st of this month and our realtor is confident he won't be showing it after that, when there is no furniture in it to make it look lovely and livable.

In between all that we threw a small birthday party for Ollie, just three friends (and that's about all that I can manage). I spent the week before making them super-hero capes with their initials on the back and sourcing superhero masks and various superhero-themed loot bag items and table decorations. And the coolest ever Batman cake. The boys had to do some kind of super hero training activity (obstacle course, throwing punches at a punching bag, tying up a villain) to earn the capes and masks and nerf rockets. They seemed to think it was pretty fun. Here are some pictures of Ollie's birthday on the 26th (just family and presents), and some from the party on the weekend:
