lots to update ... being in daycare means Ollie seems to be constantly sick.
I think he's had three colds, and at the end of last week he came down with
another stomach bug - at least this time Adrian was holding him when he
upchucked all over the place. That comes with a fever too, which meant he
(and I) were up all night on Friday. But he's better now. He's still a
hugely picky eater; it doesn't help being sick because that destroys his
appetite and then it seems to take ages for him to recover it. I got all
excited because he seemed to really enjoy eating florets of broccoli last
week, but then the next day he was over it already and refused to have
anymore. Even worse, he seems to have decided not to like banana anymore!
He's pretty much down to chicken and milk. Thank goodness for milk.
In the past few weeks he has figured out how to stand up on his own without
furniture or a person to pull up on. His walking is pretty confident too,
unless he's tired, but he still has that funny, stiff, bowlegged baby gait.
He is also teaching himself how to swim in the tub: he decided of his own
accord one day to put his face in the water. This apparently is enormously
funny, he puts his head down then comes up giggling furiously, then repeats
until he is near hysterical with laughter. Only a couple of episodes of
inhaled water and then he learned not to do that anymore.
What else? In the evening when it is almost bedtime he likes to pull a
cushion off the sofa onto the floor and flop down on it for a little rest,
super-cute. Lots of stuff in the world is still 'gog', but he is starting
to call the cat 'at' or 'gat'. He has discovered that containers full of
things can not only be emptied out, but you can put the items back in the
container as well. And that stacking cups can be stacked as well as
unstacked. He does pretty well with the shape sorter if you help get the
block over the right shaped hole first. Putting things back does not apply
to the cupboard with all the tupperware however; that only gets emptied out,
nothing ever goes back in.
Thereare new pictures up on the pictures site. They are on a new page now (http://homepage.mac.com/amynelson/PhotoAlbum18.html);the link on the right will take you there.
