got sent home from daycare on friday with a fever of 103.9. So hot! The doctor thinks he has bronchitis or pneumonia and sent him for a chest x-ray at the children's hospital (pure torture, the poor bunny had to be strapped down to a chair with his arms over his head, sort of a baby rack, while I stood behind a shield). He's much better now, after lots of Advil and lots of antibiotics, and we go back tomorrow to the doctor to see the results of the x-ray. But we had some really really really poor sleep nights for a 2-3 days there, he was really uncomfortable.
On the brighter side, he is a superstar walker, getting very confident. He also is enjoying trying to feed himself with a spoon; for a long time he would just put the spoon in the bowl, but then not into his mouth, but now he is getting the hang of getting some food into his mouth as well. And also on the walls and the floor, but practice makes perfect. This past week he has picked up pointing, points at everything he wants. Points, but doesn't talk, sounds a lot like a younger sister I know.
Ollie continues to be alternately charming and then furious. Inspired by Tiffany's resolve to deal with her 3 year old in a better, more calm way (LittleMissC), I started reading Penelope Leach again (Your Baby and Child: from birth to age 5). I would recommend it to all new parents and parents of toddlers, she just has a very realistic and down to earth approach that isn't too touchy-feely (attachment parenting) or too stern. She also offers lots of good insight into the three year old's brain and why they are being so difficult sometimes.
