speaking of sleep

Sam has been sleeping so well lately, and is so nice about going to bed. We took down the front gate on his crib and put up a short bedrail so he can climb in and out himself. He loves it, and happily climbs into bed each night, sometimes with no prompting at all, and so far has not taken up the habit of climbing out again once he is in. The last couple of nights, while brushing Ollie's teeth (at which point I figured Sam would have taken advantage of my attention being engaged elsewhere and gone to play), I have called out 'Sam are you in bed?', and he replies 'yes, I'm reading'. And when I go check, he is indeed happily ensconced in his bed with a book of his choice. He also piles up the bed with all the stuffed animals and toys he can find until there is barely room for him. I seem to remember Ollie doing that too. I have to go back in when he is asleep and remove some of the books and cars so that he doesn't get up in the morning with a car-shaped imprint on his cheek.
