Slept for 8 hours last night, ate, and then went down for another two. You would think he would be well rested, but he's been whingeing ever since, isn't happy unless he's being held.
We participated in a infant language study at UBC yesterday. They have a big centre for infant studies, and have a number of things going on, but for 4-month olds they are currently looking at visual language recognition (no sound). He sat on my lap and watched a video for 5 minutes of people reciting stories in French or English, with the sound muted. They videotaped his face and later study it to see if his interest level changes when the person is speaking English or French. Personally, I think it is a bit early for him to be lip reading. I didn't get to see anything; they make you wear darkened glasses so that you can't give your child any unconscious clues. Maybe they showed him something completely different, who knows? For his efforts he got an honorary 'degree' and a little t-shirt that says 'Infant Scientist'.
And in the latest breaking news, Oliver is getting another cousin, David and Fiona are expecting in March!
