Well the babysitting didn't go so well as we had planned. We were going out after his bed time, so it was going to be super-easy on the sitters, right? They would come over, he would be asleep, they could lounge around for 3 hours, then we would be home, no problem. Instead Ollie woke about 30 minutes after we left, would not be put back to sleep easily (as he often does do), played for an hour, then fussed for an hour and a half while the poor sitters put out their backs trying to rock him back to sleep. He finally did go to sleep about 5 minutes before we came home. Oh well, they didn't say never again, so it can't be all bad.
We've been trying to get Ollie to eat some finger foods, which is pretty funny. I started with soft bits of apple, but he pcks them up in his fist and squeezes as hard as he can until mush oozes out from between his fingers. So then we thought maybe cheerios - he is slowly getting the hang of it, but at first he would also wrap his little fist around them instead of using his fingers, then put the whole fist in his mouth and somehow try to suck the cheerio out (doesn't work). He still isn't crazy about solid foods all together, he is happy to eat a little, but doesn't put back as much as other kids seem to.
All that arching his back on the floor has paid off in that now he has a ramrod straight posture when sitting up, everyone has been complimenting him on it. Still spending a lot of time on all fours too without yet putting together the pieces to crawl.
