broken papa

Ade broke his arm skiing last week, first ski of the season, last run of the day. You should always stop on the second to last run of the day. Serves him right for buying a ski pass without me this year. Its broken right at the top of the arm, near the shoulder joint, and apparently they don't put a cast on this type of break, just a sling, you just have to be really careful yourself not to move it at all. Needless to say, baby care is out of the picture for him right now, which didn't put me in a good mood. For the first three days I had both 100% care of Ollie, and an invalid to care for, not fun. Ade has improved alot though over the past few days, and is now at least up and about, and can do things that only require one hand. I think he did it on purpose so that I would appreciate how much he helps with Ollie that much more.

Ollie on the other hand is just great. He has figured out how to balance on two feet without holding on to anything and is so pleased with himself. He pulled up on a chair last night, then turned around to face us (with nothing in front of him any longer to hold on to), and stood there making kissing sounds until we looked up from our dinners at him, then grinned like the cat that swallowed the canary. If he took a step to turn around without holding on to anything, does that count as his first step?

New favourite mealtime activity: carefully placing a piece of cheese or chicken on his head. Sometimes he rubs the chicken in his hair, I hate to let him down and tell him that it won't make his hair grow.
