weaning

Second day of no nursing during the day, and its not going too badly. Previously he wouldn't drink very much from a bottle, just sips here and there, but today he got the idea and emptied a four ounce bottle before each nap. And he went down for the naps without the accustomed boob wihtout too much fuss. So hopefully now he will be nursing just before bed and first thing in the morning, and maybe we can drop those soon too.

Saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday, and the bones are all in alignment and Ade is healing just fine. He is apparently lucky that the ball didn't just turn into dust and have to be replaced. The break is nasty looking in the X-ray, a vertical split just about through the ball of the joint and a horizontal break and a bunch of shards across the bottom where the ball meets the humerus. Yuck. He had tremendous bruising all up and down the arm, most of which has faded or turned a lovely shade of yellow, except down at the elbow where it is still a gruesome dark purple and we suspect blood is pooling. Double yuck.
