The week before Ollie's birthday was his friend Cole's birthday; his mum invited a bunch of people over for a swimming party since they live in a condo and have an indoor swimming pool in the building. What kind of a mother, I ask you, invites other recent mums over, in the dead of winter, to a party for which they have to dig out, and squeeze themselves into, their bathing suits? I had the choice between a bikini purchased pre-children, which I have to say was not a viable option, and a 20 year old one piece which has lost all elasticity and become very saggy. Lovely. Anyway, Ollie had a ball at least. We haven't been swimming for a while and he showed absolutely no fear of the water. After a while of floating around with me he declared he wanted to go by himself. Even after I let him dunk his head quickly to show him what would happen, he still wanted to do it by himself, spluttering and drowning or not. Also after jumping off the side into my arms a couple of times he was determined he could do that by himself too. Nutbar.
