Happy Birthday Sam!

Can you believe he is already one? We had a small party for him yesterday with some friends and some of the neighbours and lots of cupcakes (that was his favourite part):

He got lots of great gifts (thank you everyone) including a ride-on train, several stuffed animals, some clothes, some books, and his own personal set of dishes. Of course Ollie thinks everything is really for him (especially the train). We took Ollie to the toy store in the morning so that he could pick out something to give to Sam himself, thinking that this would help him understand that it was Sam's birthday. Wishful thinking. He had to be coaxed into actually presenting the wrapped gift to Sam, then insisted on unwrapping it himself, then engaged in a tug of war with Sam over it. Originally he said he wanted to get a bear for Sam, but when he got to the store he said that Sam had told him he didn't want a bear, that he wanted a helicopter. Sure, Sam wants a helicopter. They eventually settled on a gorgeous pink piglet. Sam really liked it.
